DESCRIPTION
Benjamin Franklin enjoyed writing about the lighter side of life, especially the interactions between husband and wife. His advice to men is, should they awake to see cleaning supplies ready, then that means his wife is about to do spring cleaning and it's time to get out of the way. In this vintage engraving, the husband awakes to see a wheelbarrow, broom, and steaming buckets and realizes it's time to go! Drawing and engraving by G. Hughes and G. B. Ellis. Published in a collection of works of Benjamin Franklin by Derby & Jackson in 1859, it is now in the public domain. Digital restoration by Steven Wynn Photography.
