DESCRIPTION
These five Malay children are shown bare-footed and standing on rush matting. One child is sitting on a wooden stool, and on a round table in the centre is a cane or rush bird cage with a shadowy bird inside. Also in the picture are gourds and clay pots. This is an antique steel engraving from the latter part of the 19th century.
