DESCRIPTION
The Chapel of the Pyx in Westminster Abbey. It is a vaulted chamber in the Undercroft, off the East Cloister, and was built about 1070. At one time it was used to hold wooden boxes called “Pyxes” where coinage samples were stored for public demonstration of the purity and integrity of the coin of the realm.
